Marriage counseling -- when do you need it? Marriage counseling is probably needed when the honeymoon is over. But when is the honeymoon over? When your spouse says, instead of: "you have a wonderful smile," she says: "stop making that ugly face."
 
That fact is in the beginning of a relationship we tend to overlook all the little annoying things that we all possess. We are blinded by love. The time comes, however, in almost every relationship, when one might think about getting some marriage counseling , or something similar.
 
During the time when we are blinded by love, nothing can go wrong, and we see everything through rose coloured glasses. When the honeymoon is over, all those little annoyances start arising in our awareness, and instead of giving compliments, we are hurling painful complaints.

The funny thing is that we usually hate those things we see in other people that, in truth, remind us of ourselves. But we are unconscious to this.
 
The problem is that we begin to criticise our partners, thinking that through criticism we will be able to change them to be what we think is an ideal mate.
